Richard Stevenson A Dog Named Normal previousnext Ekstasis Editions

“Sticks and stones may break my bones/but words will never hurt me,” goes the homiletic children’s rhyme. But no: words become both cudgel and wand… Follow poet Richard Stevenson as he looks back at his childhood, adolescence, middle age, and forward to retirement; at the naming and name-calling. A dog named Normal may be tugging at the leash, but even a family pet can sport a rueful grin as he looks over his shoulder for approval.

Richard Stevenson was born in Victoria, B.C. and currently teaches at Lethbridge College in southern Alberta. His other Ekstasis Editions titles are From the Mouths of Angels, Flying Coffins, Nothing Definite Yeti, Hot Flashes, A Charm of Finches, Bye Bye Blackbird, The Emerald Hour, and Casting Out Nines. His work has appeared widely in periodicals and anthologies in Canada, the U.S., and overseas.
